What is the Milton Keynes Design Forum for?

The MKDF is a non-profit organisation created to support and promote the creative industries within the Milton Keynes area. Its main aims are to promote the need, and advantages of, good design to businesses, working with local government to create a stronger economy, with sustainable development, and to support and collaborate with design-based centres of Higher Education within Milton Keynes. Its membership is taken from members of the design industry in Milton Keynes as well as students and those hoping to work in the industry. The Milton Keynes Design Forum also supports the Design Alliance’s manifesto for Good Design Practice.

Key points of the forum’s remit:

  1. Supporting the design industry of Milton Keynes and surrounding area.
  2. Promoting the need for good design to businesses.
  3. Creating a stronger bond between the design disciplines.
  4. To work with Universities and other HE departments within Milton Keynes.
  5. Showcasing the work of the design industry.
  6. A yearly review of the design industry.
  7. Working with local government.

Who can join the Milton Keynes Design Forum?

The MKDF is broken up into 14 creative disciplines which are outlined below, but essentially anyone with an interest in design and creativity is welcome to join. As outlined in the Mission Statement above, the Forum’s main function is to support and promote those working within the industry as well as working on social projects within Milton Keynes.
